A few tears...a few smiles....and away we go!

I wanted to get this blog up and running before boarding our flight.  I promise to go back and explain how we got from point A (India Hook Elementary) to point B (CHINA!)  Till then... our progress thus far is "surviving".

After a few REALLY challenging good-byes (my sweet boy, amazing husband, and wonderful parents) I have decided that there is NO choice about the tears.  They simply can not consume this trip. If I don't give 100% these next 12 days, then all of this has been for nothing.

The book and countdown link I made for SUPER big boy :)  Who, I must say, did amazing in the transfer to Gramp Camp yesterday.  Only smiles and thumbs up as we drove away from each other after meeting for the "exchange" lunch.

It was tough, but there were no tears.  Thanks to a great pep talk I was reminded that his behavior will reflect my behavior.  I only want the BEST for him these next two weeks.  I know he is in GREAT hands at Gramp Camp and I couldn't be more grateful for them giving me the gift to look forward, and not back, as they hold my heart while I'm gone.

And this girl, I couldn't be happier to be with.  After little sleep, lots of planning, and minimum tears...we are getting ready to board our first leg to Chicago.  Wish us luck!
